Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

October 7, 2009

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month. During this time, advocates will be wearing purple and spreading awareness to those that are unfamiliar with the deadly illness. Here are some facts:

* In 2008, an estimated 37,500 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, 34,000 of which will die.

* Men are 20% more likely to get pancreatic cancer than women, and the majority are over age 65.

* Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.

To see the little steps we are making, in honor of my grandma Jackie (who is still kicking this cancer's butt), visit her website at:

And also, be sure to wear purple next month!
